What Is Capoeira

More than martial arts.
It's a living culture.

Capoeira is a uniquely Afro-Brazilian art form that weaves together martial arts, acrobatics, music, and community. Born from the resistance of enslaved Africans in Brazil, it carries centuries of cultural memory in every movement.

At UCA Colorado, we practice capoeira as Mestre Acordeon — our founding mestre — intended: as a complete art that develops the whole person. Students learn to move, sing, play instruments, and connect across generations.

Batizado & Formatura 2026

Our annual Batizado & Formatura is the heart of our capoeira year — a celebration of dedication, growth, and community. Students receive new cords, guest mestres visit from across the UCA network, and the roda never stops.

Open to UCA Colorado students, visiting capoeiristas, and curious newcomers. Come witness the spirit of the art.
