Our annual graduation ceremony and celebration — a weekend of workshops, open rodas, music, and community open to students, visiting teachers, and guests from across the capoeira world.
A Batizado — Portuguese for "baptism" — is when capoeiristas from across the community gather to celebrate students receiving their first capoeira cordão (cord/belt). It is a rite of passage rooted in tradition, marking a student's entry into the art.
The Formatura & Troca de Corda recognizes students advancing to higher levels. During the roda, students play with visiting Mestres and Professores before receiving their new cord — a powerful acknowledgment of growth and dedication.
For visitors, it's a rare opportunity to train with masters from around the world, experience the energy of a live roda, and connect with the broader capoeira community.
